QUICK ACCESS
Our water sessions generally fall into two categories:
Tuesday Night Racing:
The heartbeat of the club. Originally focused on longboard racing, this session has transformed into a diverse handicap fleet.
We now welcome Wind-foilers, Wing-foilers, and Kitesurfers to join the line alongside traditional boards for a spectacular evening of racing.
Free-Sailing:
For the longboarders, shortboarders, kiters, and foilers, the club is the place to be whenever the conditions deliver.

Sailing is at the heart of HSSC. From relaxed cruising on a warm summer afternoon to pushing your limits in stronger south-westerlies, our stretch of water offers something for every level of sailor.
We are a mixed-fleet dinghy club, welcoming a wide range of classes and abilities. Whether you’re new to the sport or have years of experience under your belt, you’ll find competitive racing, structured series and plenty of informal sailing throughout the season.
At HSSC you’ll find:
A friendly, inclusive sailing community
Regular club racing and organised series
Conditions ranging from flat-water training days to more challenging breeze
Support on the water from experienced members and safety crews
Sailing takes place from our shingle beach location, with launch and recovery influenced by tide and wind direction. Members are encouraged to check live conditions before launching and follow guidance from the Officer of the Day and safety boat teams.
Visitors are welcome, and new members can quickly get involved - whether you’re looking to race, improve your skills or simply enjoy time on the water.

Windsurfing at Hythe Sailing Club has evolved into a high-energy, multi-discipline community. From tactical racing to the high-speed "flight" of modern foiling, we are the coastal hub for wind-powered sport in the region.
These sports are always shaped by the conditions. On lighter days you’ll see longboards cruising and progressing technique; and when the wind builds, the shortboards come out and the energy lifts instantly. It’s a sport that rewards instinct, balance and confidence - and Hythe provides the perfect stretch of water to develop all three.
What makes windsurfing at HSSC stand out:
A culture that supports both grassroots sailors and high-level competitors
A strong history of developing youth talent
Secure board storage and practical shore facilities
Hot showers and changing rooms for year-round sailing
With deep, passionate roots in windsurfing, the club has built a reputation for producing sailors who go on to compete at championship and international levels, including several Olympians! Still, the atmosphere remains relaxed and inclusive - whether you’re here to train hard, improve steadily, or simply make the most of a windy afternoon, HSSC is the perfect place.

At HSSC, social life starts on the beach. When the sun’s out, members arrive throughout the day and pitch up in their favourite spot - picnic blankets down, boats rigged, children weaving between dinghies and paddleboards. It’s a relaxed, familiar rhythm that defines summer at the club and draws locals together year after year.
Throughout the seasons, the social calendar continues with:
Seasonal highlights such as the Fitting Out Party and Annual Dinner & Dance
Beach BBQs that roll into warm sunset evenings
Quiz nights, informal sports matches and themed socials
Dedicated children’s events including Easter, Halloween and Christmas
A welcoming space for both sailors and non-sailors alike
The clubhouse itself also provides a unique coastal setting for private functions, offering members and guests the opportunity to host celebrations with sea views and a relaxed, community atmosphere.
HSSC is proudly a family club, where generations mix easily on and off the water. Whether you're sailing, spectating, or simply bringing a picnic and enjoying good company by the sea, you’ll quickly feel part of something special.
