Tasar European Championship Coming to HSSC This September

20/02/2026

We are delighted to announce that Hythe & Saltwood Sailing Club will be hosting the Tasar European Championship this September - a major international event and a significant milestone in the club’s history.

The Tasar is a highly competitive two-person dinghy class raced around the world, known for close tactical battles and strong international fleets. Bringing the European Championship to HSSC is a huge opportunity - not only for visiting racers, but for our members, volunteers and the wider local community.

The event will showcase the quality of sailing on our stretch of coastline and the strength of our club both on and off the water. Preparations are already underway, with more details to follow in the coming months.

It promises to be a standout moment in the season - and one the whole club can be proud of.

A New Wind in Our Sails: HSSC Sets Course for an Ambitious 2026

01/01/2026

Under the leadership of Commodore James Eberlein and a driven, forward-thinking Committee, Hythe & Saltwood Sailing Club is entering the 2026 season with renewed energy, clear direction and genuine momentum.

The announcement that HSSC will host the Tasar European Championship this September marks a landmark moment for the club - a major international event that places our stretch of coastline firmly on the competitive sailing map. It is an achievement that reflects not only the quality of racing at Hythe, but the strength, commitment and ambition of the club as a whole.

But this is just the beginning.

The 2026 season represents a broader push to modernise, expand and strengthen the club across multiple areas. From the launch of a refreshed digital presence to new initiatives designed to better connect with the local community, HSSC is focused on growth, both on and off the water.

Plans are already underway to:

- Expand opportunities for training and participation

- Increase engagement with new and existing members

- Strengthen community outreach through courses and activities

- Enhance communication and accessibility through improved digital platforms

- Build on the club’s reputation as a welcoming, family-focused environment

The aim is clear: to honour the club’s heritage while embracing fresh ideas and new energy.

With an exciting international event on the horizon and a proactive Committee leading the way, HSSC is not simply preparing for another season - it is setting a course for a defining year.
