Introduction
At the recent HSSC committee meeting it was decided to
introduce a newsletter to keep members informed. We hope that by issuing a
newsletter at least 3 times a year everyone will know what is happening in
their Club. In between newsletter don’t forget to log onto this website
to keep right up to date. While visiting the site why not sign
up to the mailing list, if you have not already done so and then you
will receive regular e mails about club events. Important information will
also be posted on the committees notice board at the top of the stairs at
HSSC. If anyone has any interesting items of news , such as reports of
training events, race reports, items of non slanderous gossip etc please e
mail them to me (Gill) at colin.gough@rya-online.net
or put them in my tray at the end of the bar and I will try and include
them in the next newsletter.
Training
Would anyone who wishes to receive any training
this year in either sailing or windsurfing please contact the training
officers Andy Gibson
(windsurfing) Colin Gough
(sailing) with a contact name, number and type of training required as
soon as possible. There are lists on the notice boards for this purpose or
the information can be emailed via the website to the appropriate person.
Dover Water Sports Centre
We now have an agreement with Dover Water Sports Centre whereby
any HSSC member wishing to take an RYA Level One Sailing course will
receive 15% discount on their course fees. Any other courses that a HSSC
member wishes to take at the DWSC will be discounted by 10%. If you
require any further information please contact a committee
member who will be pleased to help.

Start of Season Social
Don’t forget to come along on Saturday 29th March 2003 at
7.30pm and help us get the season underway in style. Linda has promised us
a wonderful feast of Chilli, salad and garlic bread all for the small sum
of £2.50. Not only will the food be good but just think of the bar and
all that talk of wind and sea that you’ve been missing all winter. So
come along and see how good your Club can be for 2003.
Membership
Have you renewed your membership yet—if not now is the time—memberships
should be received by 30th March so not long to go. A new system has been
introduced this year for boat and board storage. Pay your storage charges
and receive a sticker for your space/equipment and help us to manage the
storage areas more efficiently.
Private Parties at HSSC
The Club is becoming very popular as a venue for private parties. In order
for this vital service to work we would ask all members to contact Linda
Bourne, Social Secretary to make a booking for the Club giving as much
notice as possible. This way we can prevent double bookings. If you
require the bar to be open it will also be necessary for you to contact Phil
Hards to ensure that this will be possible. Current rates of hire are:
Afternoon Hire £10; Evening Hire £30. (Due to the increasing number of
events and functions that are being held in the Club we would ask that
members do not remove any Club equipment including tables, chairs and
crockery from the premises under any circumstances.)
Lisa and Ira
Congratulations to our friends Ira Wakefield and Lisa Page who were
married in Grenada during January. We all wish you the very best for your
future together.
Finally
If you have any comments or suggestions that may help us with the running
of your club please do not hesitate to let
us know. We are only human beings like yourselves so we can make
mistakes. Your committee contacts are listed here
and there are trays at the end of the bar so that messages can be left for
any committee member. There is also a suggestions box for any comments or
suggestions.
