The morning of December 3rd 2006 saw the strongest winds at Hythe in several years. Our weather station recorded a maximum gust of 57.2 mph from the SW at 8.36 am (Force 10), and a maximum average wind speed of 49.6 mph (Force 9). As a result, the beach has been completely trashed, with our old ramp exposed for the first time since the original beach replenishment of the mid 90s. On the plus side, the recently installed storm barriers did their job, keeping the sea well out of people's houses!

One from our web cam at high tide.
As you can see the sea is right over the prom.
